30 ODD QUESTIONS
As part of the 30 Odd Questions link up with Debbie from the Doglady's Den – here are my answers to the thirty questions in the Challenge. The link up lasts for a little while yet, so feel free to visit her blog, copy the questions and then link up your answers.1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an Egyptologist – didn’t really think it through all that carefully because there’s no way I could stand all that heat and sand and dust, and the tedium that goes with archaeology.
2. Which “Friends” character do you relate to the most? Why?
Monica because I’m a neat freak – and I always liked her apartment style.
3. Do you like your name? Why?
I don’t mind it now but I disliked it back in my school days because it was a popular name in my era and at one stage there were three Leanne’s in some of my classes – really annoying when someone says “Leanne” and none of us bothered to answer because we always assumed they were speaking to one of the other Leannes.
4. Are you messy or neat?
As per my Monica reference in #2 – I am really neat, so is my husband. We live in a very tidy house and we love not having clutter around us. We practiced minimalism before it became fashionable!
5. How tall are you?
5’8” (172cm) – and I’d love to be to be a few inches shorter so I could wear all those gorgeous high heels and not tower over everyone. Being tall does allow me to look slimmer than I would if I was short – and I can reach the top shelf at the supermarket.
6. How tall were you when you were 10?
No idea – I was average until mid-teens and then just kept growing a few more inches when most of my friends stopped.
7. What is your guilty pleasure?
Potato chips – hot chips, crisps, potato fritters, potato wedges – if it’s potato and fried and salted I am in love (shame they come with a million calories!)
8. What are you saving money for right now?
I’m actually not saving for anything other than retirement atm – after decades of being frugal, we’re finally at a place where we don’t have to be saving every cent. I think a holiday may be on the cards soon though.
9. How many Pringles can you eat at once?
As per #7 – they are potato and fried and salted – I could eat tubes of them (they aren’t my favourite chip but beggars can’t be choosers!)
10. Tea or coffee?
Coffee without question – I’m not a coffee snob, but give me a cup of coffee and some pleasant conversation and I am your friend for life.
11. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I wrote a post a while ago about becoming an Ambivert – which basically is an introverted extrovert. I’m getting more introverted with age because it’s easier to stay home than to go out and be sociable these days.
12. What will be your Halloween costume this year?
I don’t do Halloween – it’s getting really popular in Australia but I think it’s irrelevant and a waste of time. We close the blinds and pretend we’re not home for the evening – bliss!
13. Sweet or salty?
As per #7 and #9 – salty all the way. Although I’d never say no to a square or two of chocolate.
14. Favourite social media?
Facebook – love the connections, love keeping up with old friends, love seeing photos of grandbabies, weddings and holidays. I also have to confess to being an avid pinner on Pinterest too.
15. Who is the last person you kissed?
My husband - and I hope to keep doing it for many, many years to come.
16. What is your favourite breakfast
Bacon and hash browns – delicious salty goodness. But only as a rare treat or I’d be built like a barn in no time.
17. When is your birthday?
4th of November – and I know a surprising number of people born on the same day.
18. When did you start your blog?
On November 30th, 2014 – two and a half years ago and still loving writing, commenting and connecting.
19. What is your opinion on the Kardashians?
They are irrelevant to my life – they don’t appeal to me at all – I’d rather see photos of the Royal family. I like a little bit of discretion and class.
20. How would you describe your style?
Casual with a dash of colour. I’m not a big spender on clothes, but I do like to keep up to date and I love pink, purple and teal so I usually have a splash of one of those on each day.
21. What colour is your hair?
Blonde-y brown with a splash of purple or pink – depending on the month and what the hairdresser and I decide on the day. I’d love to go rainbow all over but I don’t think I could pull it off at my age and stage.
22. What colour socks are you wearing?
Purple – of course!
23. What is your dream job?
Not having one, and being well off enough to not need an income. Hopefully we’ll get there one day but in the meantime, I work part-time in reception and that suits me just fine.
24. Dogs or cats?
Cats – it used to be dogs, but cats are just easier these days. Low maintenance and soft and purry – and they don’t poop on the lawn or bark.
25. What makes you weird?
Lots of things, my hair colour (#21), my tattoos, my daith piercing, my love of singing along to everything, my sense of humour. Lots of little weirdnesses – I prefer the term ‘quirky’ though.
26. Celebrity crush?
It used to be Hugh Jackman, but now I don’t think I have one anymore.
27. Opinion on cigarettes?
Disgusting things that make your teeth yellow, your hair smell and they kill you, and annoy the people around you.
28. Do you have children? How many?
Yes – two and they’re both married so that now makes four + a lovely grandbaby.
29. Three favourite boy names?
Jared, Isaac, Levi
30. Three favourite girl names?
Erin, Eden, Amber
That's it from me - 30 very odd questions but hopefully you know me a bit better now - why not check out some of the others who have linked up. Or you could do your own answers and link them too.
Thanks for joining the blogfest, Leanne. I enjoyed learning more about you. "Ambivert" is a good definition and I think it may fit me as well. ☺ Loved your photos! Why not do the rainbow hair? Anything goes, these days, and we are no longer restricted by age and convention. Your grandbaby has a beautiful smile! ☺
ReplyDeleteP.S.You didn't add your link to the list. I'll go ahead and add it in. Cheers!
DeleteI loved your photos too - especially of you and your husband before and now! Thanks for adding me into the link - I was going to do it once my post went live. Looking forward to reading all the others x
DeleteReaching the top shelf at the supermarket is a great perk, Leanne - let me tell you, just the other day I had to hit on a tall guy just because I needed the buttermilk from all the way up and close to the wall!
ReplyDeleteI think you should give rainbow hair a chance!
I also remember when frozen food was in those big open top containers in the middle of the supermarket floor Tamara - I could always duck dive in to get stuff at the bottom without capsizing and finding myself submerged in with the frozen peas! I still don't think I'd get away with the rainbow hair unfortunately :(
DeleteWhat a lovely way to get to know you and have fun as well . Will have to try this as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd love you to join in Bev - just link up with the linky at the bottom of my post or join in with Debbie over at the dogladyden - it's been fun to do.
DeleteYou're a bit taller than me - I'm 5ft 4; but we do have a LOT in common. Although I'm fond of chips in every form, my vice is chocolate, I'm a definite sweet tooth! Like you, we are now enjoying the benefits of years of frugal living, and I am a neat freak. Unfortunately the hubster isn't! It's lucky I love him!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we can be so far apart distance wise and yet so similar in a lot of aspects of our lives isn't it Janet? When I read your posts I have little moments of recognition all the time - connection is a wonderful thing x
DeleteNice to get to know you. I agree about cats over dogs. And I am wondering if anyone knows how tall they were at ten unless they are eleven now.
ReplyDeleteIt was great reading your answers too Denise and yes it is a weird question to ask anyone who isn't ten - it was so long ago.....
DeleteHi Leanne,
ReplyDeleteI like Monica, share your opinion on cigs, and used to teach about Egypt.
Janice
So many things in common Janice! There are a lot of blogging Monicas out there - I think it's our need for order that helps us put our thoughts on paper and keep coming back to do it each week!
DeleteOh Leanne I'm 5'2" it will be fun when we meet in person. I'm a savoury kind of girl and I also sing. In fact, I walked home from seeing My Fair Lady and sang all the way home. So I suppose I'm quirky too!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to sit down when we meet Sue so that we're eye to eye! We'll have some chips and coffee/tea (or you can have a wine while I drink my flat white - but chips are non-negotiable!) We might bust a tune too while we're at it :)
DeleteI feel like I "know" you better, now. What an interesting set of questions, and what a fun way to get to know someone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mimi - it was quick to do and fun to participate in - I've enjoyed reading the other blogs and getting to know a bit more about some of the people I've met through the AtoZ challenge.
DeleteEnjoyed reading your responses to the Q&A. I prefer the word "quirky" too. I think everyone has a dose of quirky. It makes things fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the word "quirky" it has a longevity to it - you can be a quirky old lady - and that's something to look forward to isn't it?
DeleteBest answer yet on 19 and I'm right with you on the dream job! Now, where'd that lottery ticket go...?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - it was a rather Odd question in amongst some already odd questions - kind of makes you wonder what people find relevant. I was more surprised by many people had managed to avoid watching Friends - I thought it was all pervasive.
DeleteGreat photos. Egyptologist? Holly Cow as an adult I only superficially know what that is!!
ReplyDeleteI was a precocious child Haralee (now I'm an adult I had to check how to spell precocious - so something got lost along the way!) Glad you liked the pics - they broke up the page rather nicely :)
DeleteLeanne, it is so nice to learn more about you. Thanks for sharing your wonderful posts at Over The Moon Party.
ReplyDeleteSee you next week.
Hugs,
Bev
Thanks Bev - I love the OTM party and will definitely be back next week for more x
DeleteOh! You wish you were a few inches shorter, and I wish I was a couple of inches taller! I wonder when Science would give us the ability to transfer our inches to other people, both vertically and laterally!
ReplyDeleteLoved all your photos in this post, Leanne, especially your grand-kid! It was fun knowing more about you through this blog hop!
I'd happily pass a few inches over to you Chicky (then I could go out and buy those high heels to celebrate!) I often think that women who want to lose weight could give some of their kilos to those who want to gain a little :)
DeleteLeanne,
ReplyDeleteThank you for popping over to read my responses to these questions and it was great fun to meet you. I've heard other taller gals wish they were shorter so they can wear heels or long flowing dresses/skirts. I used to want to be taller because let's face it when you're 5'2" lots of things are hard to reach but I finally accepted my stature and quite like being this height. It gets frustrating at times when I can reach something but if no one is around I use a chair to get what I need. Hugh Jackman is a handsome fellow. I always hoped he would be cast as James Bond. I think he'd make a nice 007. A far better choice than Daniel Craig. I love potato chips and french fries, too. I don't eat them often because of the calories. You know when you're petite every extra pound I carry is like two or three pounds and I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to totally lose control of my eating habits and cast as the next Pillsbury Doughwoman. :) If you like to mewsic then you may want to hit the dance floor with me today. Have a tunetastic week! ;)
Hi Cathy - isn't it great when we get to meet new bloggers and find commonalities? We may not be the same height, but our chip loving connection would be a great way to connect! And yes you're right, Hugh would have made a great James Bond!
DeleteAwesome answers, Leanne! Thanks for the visit over at Quiet Laughter earlier; super happy to connect with you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Guilie - I really enjoyed reading your answers too - and getting a little snippet of your life.
DeleteI love your answer to dream jobs :) And I have to agree.
ReplyDeleteand also about the Kardashians.
Nice meeting you.
I am a neat freak too and it is a blessing to have a partner who is similar to you in this aspect. Your grandson is so cute. Good to meet you through this blogfest, Leanne. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your height and your minimalist home! As much as I try to be minimalist, I still end up buying things I don't need without getting rid of things I'm not using. *sigh* Maybe one day I'll have everything in order. :)
ReplyDeleteWith Love,
Mandy
